Installation
For all Commercial Flooring, warranties provided are dependent on proper installation. And if you’re paying thousands for top quality flooring products that will last for 20+ years, you don’t want to drop the ball with an improper installation. We ensure that when we sell you flooring, you’ll be able to benefit from any warranty by ensuring you follow manufacturer guidelines for installation of their product. And we help ensure that your installation goes smoothly so your floor lasts for many many years without issue.
We offer two options for installation of the products we sell:
-
We can handle all of the installation for you – from start to finish – at a cost/square foot for the installation.
-
We offer a second, more popular option for Hutterite customers, which is a hybrid installation model where our experts guide your Colony tradespeople on the installation – effectively working alongside you to do the installation. This saves you a tremendous amount of money on installation. All of our Colony customers have very skilled and capable tradesman who just need a little guidance and sometimes some specialized tooling to do the installation, so we offer this option that is by far the most popular choice for our customers.
For sheet vinyl, we offer heat welded seams or seam sealed seams.

Heat Welding
Heat welding joins sheet vinyl seams through high heat 3-point PVC welding. Heat welding provides a strong, waterproof and bacteria-resistant surface. The welding cord is made of pure PVC which is designed to melt at the same temperature as the sheet of vinyl flooring. The welding cords come in many colors to blend in with your choice of flooring.
Seam Sealer
Using a seam sealer compound between sheet vinyl joints allows you to create a truly seamless look with no bead of welding cord showing. See photos below for the proper process in applying seam sealer to your vinyl flooring seams.
